Foundations of Strategic Thinking
॥ ORIGINAL SANSKRIT SHLOKA ॥
Arthashastra 5.6

समस्या नास्ति या निदानं न विद्यते।
विचारेण सर्वे दोषाः नश्यन्ति॥

Transliteration (IAST)
Samasyā nāsti yā nidānaṃ na vidyate.
Vicāreṇa sarve doṣāḥ naśyanti.

English Meaning & Translation
There is no problem for which a remedy does not exist.
Through deliberation, all faults are destroyed.
Every problem that frightens ten men is a problem that creates an opportunity for the one who solves it.
💼 Business Lesson
The business that solves customer problems faster and more completely than competitors builds relationship equity that no price advantage can match. Make problem-solving speed and quality a visible competitive differentiator.
👑 Leader Lesson
Leaders who approach problems with curiosity rather than anxiety build organisations that approach them the same way. The cultural tone on problem-solving — is it blamed or solved? — is set entirely from the top.
⚙ Manufacturing Lesson
In manufacturing, every quality problem contains within it a process improvement opportunity. The organisation that treats rejections, customer complaints, and equipment failures as data — rather than embarrassments — continuously gets better.
📜 APPLICATION TO MODERN INDUSTRY

Chanakya saw obstacles as strategic opportunities — moments where competitors stumbled and where the prepared leader gained ground. Problem-solving was not a defensive capability but an offensive one.
