दीपः प्रकाशाय दहति।
मितदाहेन प्रकाशः, अतिदाहेन नाशः॥


Transliteration (IAST)
Dīpaḥ prakāśāya dahati.
Mitadāhena prakāśaḥ, atidāhena nāśaḥ.

English Meaning & Translation
A lamp burns to give light.
With measured burning comes light; with excessive burning comes destruction.
The flame that burns brightest burns longest when it is fed most wisely.
