॥ ORIGINAL SANSKRIT SHLOKA ॥
Chanakya Niti 13.5

गुरोः शिष्यः श्रेष्ठां कृतिं करोति।
गुरुः तस्मिन् जीवति॥

Transliteration (IAST)
Guroḥ śiṣyaḥ śreṣṭhāṃ kṛtiṃ karoti.
Guruḥ tasmin jīvati.

English Meaning & Translation
The disciple of the teacher performs the greatest deeds.
The teacher lives on within the disciple.
The greatest legacy of a teacher is not what he knows — it is what his student becomes.
💼 Business Lesson
Systematic mentoring accelerates the development of the next generation of leaders more effectively than any formal training programme. It transfers not just knowledge but judgment, perspective, and the pattern-recognition that only experience provides.
👑 Leader Lesson
The leader who mentors well is building the organisation that will outlast them. They are not just solving today's problems — they are building tomorrow's problem-solvers. This is the highest-leverage activity any leader can invest in.
⚙ Manufacturing Lesson
In manufacturing, experienced process engineers, quality leaders, and production supervisors carry knowledge that cannot be found in any document. Pair them deliberately with high-potential successors and create structured knowledge transfer before retirement.
📜 APPLICATION TO MODERN INDUSTRY

Chanakya's most important contribution was not the Arthashastra but Chandragupta — a leader he shaped from a young man into the founder of the Maurya Empire. That is the ultimate act of mentoring.
